Masterboards can be anything, pieces of paper glued down, or stamping and ink blending.

The idea is to have a full sheet to cut down and make several things with.

Marion Made this masterboard with scrap strips of white, and then ink dragged over them and stamped in between.

This masterboard is the Serendipty Technique

Lots of torn scraps glued down to an 8.5" x 11" sheet of card stock, and then stamped all over.

It made 6 cards, with minimal scrap leftover.
